Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), Oyo State branch, Chairman, Pastor Oyekunle Omidokun, has made it clear that the association, in the last one year, has made deliberate shift from being just an association to becoming a coordinated industry platform.
He made this known during the opening ceremony of the 2026 Oyo Mega Poultry workshop, held at Poultry Haven, Ajia Road, Ibadan
While Speaking on the theme: “Sustaining the Future: Positioning Poultry Farmers for Generational Impact”, Omidokun said the development is a call to structure, discipline and transformation.
He said over the years, poultry farmers have faced unstable feed prices, poor access to quality inputs, lack of structured markets, fragmentation across the value chain and weak bargaining power.
He emphasised that Oyo PAN has focused on organisation, aggregation and collaboration as the foundation for sustainable growth. “We have started aggregating key poultry inputs across our members. For the first time, the association has coordinated bulk input supplies (maize, feeds and concentrates, etc.) for poultry producers, helping to reduce cost pressures and improve access, he stated.
“We have also successfully aggregated demand for thousands of pullet day-old chicks for the 2026 production season, with additional broiler demand still growing. This is real data from real farms.” He said
Meanwhile, in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of the event, pioneer chairman, PAN, Oyo State and Life patron of the association, Chief Emmanuel Folorunso Oguunaike, appealed to government both at the state and federal levels to lessen farmers’ problems by coming up with policies that can sustain poultry business, take care of scarcity of raw materials and make sure they put in place policies that will enhance productivity.
Also, special Adviser to the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Professor Eustace Iyayi, said the ministry is doing all within its capacity to ensure that livestock farmers get the necessary support to thrive in their businesses, thereby translating to further development of the livestock sector of the national economy.
