Governor Monday Okpebholo has appointed Roland Igbadumhe as Special Adviser on Livestock Development, a move that has generated excitement among stakeholders in Edo State’s agricultural sector.
The appointment, announced in an official statement by the Edo State Government, is seen as part of the administration’s broader strategy to reposition agriculture, strengthen the livestock value chain and create more economic opportunities for residents, particularly young people.
Governor Okpebholo described the appointment as well deserved, praising Igbadumhe for his dedication to service, leadership capacity and commitment to the growth of the state.
According to the governor, the new adviser is expected to play a strategic role in advancing policies capable of transforming livestock production into a major driver of economic development in Edo State.
“This appointment is a testament to your exceptional leadership, dedication, unwavering commitment to service, and the continued growth and development of Edo State,” the governor stated.
“May your tenure be impactful, productive and bring lasting transformation to our dear state. We wish you success.”
The announcement has since drawn commendations from political associates, supporters and stakeholders who described the development as a timely intervention aimed at revitalising the livestock sector while opening governance opportunities to younger professionals.
Reacting to his appointment, Igbadumhe expressed appreciation to Governor Okpebholo for the confidence reposed in him, promising to justify the trust through innovation, commitment and hard work.
The new adviser, who previously served under former Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole, commended the governor for creating opportunities for youths regardless of political background or influence.
“I just want to appreciate the Governor of Edo State for his determination to develop Edo, make the state shine and create opportunities for young people with fresh ideas and good intentions,” he said.
“For the first time, young people who may not have political godfathers or influential backgrounds now have the opportunity to become something in Edo State because the governor has changed the narrative.”
He also assured residents that his office would collaborate closely with relevant ministries and stakeholders to drive reforms capable of improving livestock productivity, supporting farmers and stimulating rural development.
According to him, partnerships with the Ministry of Livestock Development and the Ministry of Agriculture would be critical to achieving sustainable growth and attracting investment into the sector.
Igbadumhe further reaffirmed support for the governor’s political and developmental agenda, insisting that the administration continues to enjoy growing acceptance among youths, especially in Edo North.
“It is time for us to change the narrative in Edo State. The youths are happy with the governor, especially in Edo North, where we remain fully united and committed to supporting his vision for the state,” he stated.
He pledged to use his office to champion policies and programmes that would enhance livestock production, create employment opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Edo State.
